Lenin, a core of the stone composition, is accompanied by a worker and a collective farmer on the right and three soldiers on the left. The huge sculpture group was built in 1970 and was devoted to the 100th anniversary of Lenin.

During the Perestroyka period representatives of radicalism were trying hard to remove it from the city center or totally destroy, but it was decided to keep the composition for the young generation. Communists still gather here on different events, and from time to time it is possible to find fresh flowers at Lenin’s feet.

But what does this generation think of it?

Well, the figure of Lenin is a popular dating place. Young people of all ages typically meet ‘between the legs’. The place is popular among skaters, bikers, goths and representatives of many other youth subcultures.

They don’t seem to care about Lenin and communists at all. Meetings, embraces, kisses – now Lenin is a witness of all those happy and crazy things.

And citizens of Novosibirsk are glad they have this monument, the city is now impossible to imagine without them.
